about
Perhaps one of the country’s most honest and mesmerizing singer-songwriters, Karl S Williams is excited to share his latest musical creation, ‘Blood To Give’.
Produced and recorded by Matt Redlich (Holy Holy / Husky / Ball Park Music / Emma Louise), the track delivers as another taste of Karl S Williams’ exploration and passion for The Blues. “I was very happy to finally work with Matt, a producer who I have long admired,” says Karl. “He imagined a perfect sonic landscape for the song to exist within.”
Talking about the track, Karl explains “Life is hard and unkind to all of us at times, I guess I went digging for suitable metaphors for that experience. In some ways the song is also an address to an industry wherein the sensitive are shepherded inexorably toward the precipice.”
As a creative force striving towards honest, relatable blues that has the power to heal, Karl S Williams aims for his music to strike a chord with those who listen. With ‘Blood To Give’, Karl describes that “There is no malice or self-pity. It is to be played loudly and I hope that if people sing and dance along they will find that their burden is made lighter for a little while.”
lyrics
I’ve been worn out, beat down
Drove one end of the country to another
Chasing a dollar, or chasing my tail
It ain’t a cold mistress, that’s a mother
I don’t know if I have any
Good Lord! Any more blood to give.
I’ve been bled dry, hung high
Rolled and left to die out in the gutter
Like a rat on a wheel, like a fish on a reel
When I look back now I should have seen it coming
I don’t know if I have any
Good Lord! Any more blood to give.
And the same machine that I’m travelling in
Seems to send me in the wrong direction
Somebody else is driving the thing
And they don’t even know where I am heading
I don’t know if I have any
Good Lord! Any more blood to give.
I bled for you, I gave you plenty
You ask for more, but I ain’t got any
Any more blood to give.
